Marketing Students: Thank you for visiting Market
Power.
I have two goals for this site: One is to provide
business owners and managers with timely information that will help them
operate more profitably; the second is to help students like you in a
way that will enhance your learning.
What that means to you as a student, is that I'll help you "learn
how to fish" instead of giving you a fish. If I give you a fish,
you'll eat for a day. If I teach you how to fish, you'll eat for
a lifetime. So... I won't give you answers, but I will
provide you with some guidance and other resources that you might not
otherwise have access to at this site.
But... As part of your
learning experience, I expect you to act like I'm your most valuable
customer and practice excellent customer service toward me. In fact, I
am your customer. You need to constantly sell me on why I should help
you. Receiving polite and thankful treatment from you will be my only
reward. If you do the following to acknowledge help from me, and you
continue to treat people respectfully and communicate detailed
information succienctly, you'll be successful with me as well as in your
career:
1. always acknowledge any help you receive by email
2. always provide complete enough information so I can help you.
Don't just tell me "I have a marketing project" but give me
specifics:
-
what's the name of your school
-
what level of school are you attending,
high-school, community college, university undergraduate, university
graduate student
-
what is the exact title of your course?
-
what is the specific assignment you've been
given.
3. ALWAYS leave my copyright on materials I send you -- it'll be
on everything I send... leave it there.
4. send me a copy of your completed project with a note regarding
how the material I sent you or led you to helped you make it better.
Keep
in mind that the help your asking for is NOT coming from a university or
other educational institution who receives public funds for providing
this assistance, but rather from a small business person (a one person
company) who offers educational books, tapes, and seminars for profit.
That's how I make my living.
So sell me on why I should help you and ....
....Always practice the great customer service I preach (and that you're
on your way to learning). If you don't, I have NO incentive to help.
And, I expect you to review the entire Marketing
University portion of this site first to see if the information you
need is already there.
If you don't do your homework and check the Marketing
University first, but simply send a request for help on a topic
that I know is available there, then you'll receive no help. I'm not
going to give things to you if you don't demonstrate to me that you're
willing to work hard on your education on your own. |
